Cookie Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-18
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website operator.
2. How we use cookies
Contrack uses the following categories of cookies:
| Category | Purpose | Can you opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Session management, authentication tokens, CSRF protection. Required for the service to function. | No — these are essential for the service to work. |
| Analytics | PostHog product analytics in localStorage so we can understand feature usage in aggregate. Only activated with your consent. | Yes — choose Necessary only before analytics starts, or clear Contrack site data to reset your saved choice. |
3. Specific cookies and local storage we set
| Name | Category | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| refresh_token | Strictly necessary | 7 days (rolling) | Keeps you logged in between sessions. httpOnly; not accessible to JavaScript. |
| csrf_token | Strictly necessary | Session | Cross-site request forgery protection token. |
| cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Until you clear site data | Local storage key that records your cookie consent preference. |
| ph_* | Analytics | Until you clear site data | PostHog product analytics storage — set only if you accept analytics. |
4. How to manage cookies
The cookie banner appears until you choose Accept all or Necessary only. Your saved choice is stored in localStorage under cookie_consent. To change that choice, clear site data for Contrack and the banner will appear again. You can also control cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent the service from working.
